ACT says it will scrap the target of reaching net zero emissions in New Zealand by 2050 and repeal the Zero Carbon Act.
The party also says it would remove the “artificial” auction price floor on carbon credits so they can be sold at a price that the market is willing to pay.
“And instead of treating carbon revenue as another pot of money for politicians to spend, we would return 100% of the net revenue to New Zealanders through a Carbon Tax Refund,” party leader David Seymour said.
