National says that if re-elected it will offer homeowners low-interest loans to install solar power and battery energy storage.
In addition to reducing power bills, National says the Home Energy Fund policy will help homeowners manage the large upfront costs involved when installing solar and make their properties more resilient to power outages. The loans would be paid off via council rates.
In addition, National will change planning regulations to make installing solar and batteries easier.
