The Opportunity Party says it will introduce a new compulsory KiwiSaver 2.0 scheme, with contributions rising to 12% of gross earnings over an eight-year transition period, comprising 6% from employers and 6% from employees.
It says the policy will “ensure that every Kiwi can retire with dignity (without the country going broke)… and build a trillion-dollar capital pool to fund infrastructure and national development.”
KiwiSaver 2.0 will be entirely separate from the existing voluntary KiwiSaver scheme, which will remain in place as a supplementary savings vehicle for those who want to use it. Existing KiwiSaver holders will be able to transition funds to the new account if they wish.
