In a Facebook post on April 3 (which can be viewed below), Te Pati Māori has pledged to end New Zealand’s supermarket duopoly, saying the major supermarket operators were “driving up food prices while buying up land just to keep it empty and block competition”. The party also said it will remove GST from food purchases.
