Labour has pledged to spend $4.3 billion over four years on public infrastructure including social housing, hospitals and schools.
As well as meeting infrastructure needs, Labour leader Chris Hipkins says the policy – available here (Labour Start Work Now Factsheet (1)) – will provide much-needed jobs in the community.
“Right now, homes need building, schools need improving and hospitals need fixing. We can do all three while creating good jobs for Kiwis,” he said.
The policy includes creating at least 6,000 new social housing places over four years.
