A proposal to lift restrictions on alcohol sales on public holidays such as Good Friday has won partial backing from a Parliament select committee, but it wants the ban to remain for supermarkets and bottle shops.
The Justice Select Committee supported aspects of Labour MP Kieran McAnulty’s private members bill allowing licenced premises to serve booze on Anzac Day morning, Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Christmas Day.
