PSA heads to court over hybrid working, Aussie decision backs Westpac staffer

The Public Services Association (PSA) has filed a statement of problem with the Employment Relations Authority, claiming that the Accident Compensation Authority (ACC) breached its collective agreement by announcing a change in its working from home policy without “proper consultation” with the union.

The issue arose on 7 October when ACC said it had decided to change its hybrid working policy to require staff to be onsite for at least three days a week, instead of the previous two. The union complained it hadn’t been consulted but ACC refused to retract the policy change.

The PSA has asked the Authority for a determination that ACC breached the collective agreement, a compliance order and cost.

Meanwhile, across the ditch an Australian woman has won a landmark case against Westpac after the bank refused to allow her to work from home.
