A reform that doubles the threshold for cases that the Disputes Tribunal can hear has passed its final reading in Parliament, with Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith saying it will make handling smaller civil cases faster and less costly.
The tribunal, which offers an alternative to court action, will be able to hear cases where the complainant is seeking up to $60,000, rather than the current limit of $30,000.
