Whilst I concur with David Harvey’s comments I would point out that the Cuban Missile Crisis was in fact in October 1962. I too remember it only too well and yes the current Iran war is at least potentially much more dangerous. Regards David Sparks

Thanks for sharing your insight. I tend to agree with some of the points. However, this view seems imbalanced without also comparing and contrasting the current PM and government’s performance.

Opinion pieces, by definition, are always biased as they represent the writer’s personal opinion. They do not need to be ‘balanced’. In that way, they differ from news stories, which require balance. If you disagree with any aspect of David Harvey’s piece, you are very welcome to submit a rebuttal.

Mr Harvey is less than fairly calling for a positive plan to address a problem before any real issue has been identified. He himself has given no specific analysis or suggestion of the type of action we are supposedly lacking or where the government is demonstrably incompetent.
The PM has been at pains to reassure the nation everything is under control.
We can expect any plan from any side to be sparce! Any concrete proposals at this stage would be seen as half-cocked and itself open to criticism.
In general, it is true that the opposition is keeping itself as a small target. As opposition, eight long months before the polls, this is a valid tactic, n’est pas?
