More than 10,000 members have chosen The Law Association

The Law Association of New Zealand’s membership has passed 10,000 for the first time, more than tripling its numbers since 2014.

TLANZ President Tony Herring says growth in the organisation’s membership, which 12 years ago sat at 3,000, shows it is meeting a need among legal professionals for an independent body that represents them.

“It signals confidence in a model that is inclusive, independent and responsive to the realities of modern legal practice,” Herring told LawNews. “From students and early-career lawyers through to senior practitioners and specialists, there is a clear demand for an organisation that advocates on their behalf, provides practical tools and resources, and creates a sense of professional community.”

“Importantly, it also highlights that the profession is looking for relevance –  support that evolves alongside changing client expectations, regulatory environments and new ways of working.

“Whether it’s access to high-quality CPD, innovative platforms like LegalForms, or a trusted voice in policy and law reform, practitioners want an organisation that adds tangible value at every stage of their journey.”
