Julie-Anne Kincade KC has been reappointed as Vice-President of The Law Association of New Zealand (TLANZ) following the first business meeting of the newly formed council in March.
“I am really looking forward to continuing the great work being done by TLANZ with the profession,” said Kincade, who continues to play a key role in shaping TLANZ strategic direction.
Michael Wallmannsberger was also reappointed to the TLANZ Council as one of the two non-lawyer appointees. He is a highly regarded cybersecurity consultant and brings a wealth of experience from senior governance and cybersecurity leadership roles in major organisations. He works independently with boards and executive teams to manage and mitigate cybersecurity risks.
The council also appointed Mingze Sun. Sun is a junior barrister at Shortland Chambers. Admitted to the bar in 2021, he is a part-time PhD law candidate at the University of Auckland.
Sun is actively engaged in the profession and legal education. He serves as co-convener of the TLANZ NextGen Lawyers Committee, is a member of the Criminal Lawyers Committee of NZ Asian Lawyers and is a volunteer solicitor and presenter with Community Law Waikato. He is also the director of CulturalWise, which provides psychological reports for defendants, and UniWise, which supports law students through tutoring and mentoring.
TLANZ President Tony Herring welcomed the appointments, saying “the council looks forward to the continued valuable contribution of Julie-Anne Kincade KC and Michael Wallmannsberger. We also welcome the expertise and fresh perspective Mingze Sun brings to the table. This council is well-positioned to guide TLANZ in its ongoing mission to serve both our members and the wider legal community New Zealand-wide.”
