Consumer NZ has welcomed the record $3.25 million fine imposed on Foodstuffs North Island as a sign that the courts are finally getting serious about holding the grocery sector to account.
The High Court handed down the fine last week after finding Foodstuffs North Island included land covenants on three properties to try to block rivals from setting up shop near its existing stores.
